Live Life Juicy – The Second Principle

Live Life Juicy – The Second Principle

Trusting in the Universe & Knowing When to Change Course

I recently had to make a tough decision about the launch of my novel. My heart was set on December 10th, 2024, so DELICIOUS SURRENDER would be available in time for the holidays. I was, to put it mildly, hell-bent on publishing this year and I told tons of people when to expect it!

One phone call changed that. Except it wasn’t this one call that changed my mind. It was a series of things – so that when I listened to the wise person who recommended postponing, I already had an inkling that it was a good decision. I was free to ignore this advice and forge ahead, but the info came at the EXACT right time for me to put the brakes on.

I believe we receive guidance from the Universe all the time – if we are open to hearing it. My husband chuckles when I say I was “guided” to do, or not to do something. He likes to call it voodoo. But he cannot deny that my spiritual guides have a way of showing up for me – and protecting me.

In the days leading up to that call, I was frustrated and stressed out trying to sort through categories, keywords, and looming deadlines for Amazon, Ingram Spark, and Goodreads. Technology was vexing me at every turn.

Then came the suggestion to postpone. Plenty of valid reasons were cited – not the least of which is my lack of online presence, followers and fans. Is this a subtle cry for help? YES! Please ask your friends to sign up for the blog or follow me on Instagram. My juicy book is now releasing February 11, 2025 – in time for Valentine’s Day!

Anyway, enough about that. I made the decision, and a huge weight immediately lifted off me. It felt RIGHT.

What I’m trying to say is – sometimes we receive little signs, warning bells, or detours when something is not the highest and best choice for us. For example, you want that new job – but you have a call with the hiring manager, and it doesn’t go well. You really love that gorgeous house in your chosen neighborhood, you bid and bid again and still lose it. Instead of being frustrated at being thwarted, look at it with a new perspective. For some reason, that job was not meant to be. It hasn’t been revealed but trust there is something better on the horizon. That house could have a sinkhole, hidden termites, or bad neighbors – trust you were protected from a bad situation – or it was because an even better home was coming for sale the next week.

We can choose to TRUST that we are being protected from an unfavorable situation, versus being punished for something we did. I choose to say it is happening FOR me – not TO me.

We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we perceive it and move forward from it.

My message to myself and to anyone open to guidance, is this:

  • Trust in the Universe
  • Manifest your dreams
    • Step 1: Faith
    • Step 2: Intention
    • Step 3: Conviction
  • When one door closes, another opens – so keep your eyes and heart open
  • Do not give energy to – or talk about the negative in your life
  • Sometimes people move on or away from you – let them go. You may be making space for another person or opportunity

If you’ve had a similar experience where you trusted your gut, listened to your spidey senses, or felt compelled to change course, I would love to hear from you.

Oh and be sure to follow me on Instagram (lucesutherlandwrites) because the juicy cover of Delicious Surrender will be revealed on December 6th! Trust me it is HOT!!!!

Live Life Juicy – The First Principle

Live Life Juicy – The First Principle

We could call this is a public service announcement for women mainly, but it is important for men, too. Don’t be shy, read on!

As I share the precepts of how to Live Life Juicy, know that I do so in the hopes that you will laugh, then share, and eventually consider them for yourself.

The first principle of LLJ, the thing that could change your life, the key to your long term wellness, a practical rule of thumb, or middle fingers, even the palm of your hand… This first fundamental edict, is:

Masturbation is good for you!!

Don’t take my word for it. I checked my facts before diving into this topic. The Cleveland Clinic (cited article here) and many other reputable sources agree!

Don’t panic, I am not about to go into detail about the HOW, I’m only here to tell you the WHY.  You might be shocked to learn there are more than 13 reasons why.

  1. Reduce stress and relieve tension
  2. Improve sleep
  3. Increase your focus
  4. Boost your mood
  5. Alleviate aches and pain
  6. Enhance your sex life
  7. Prevent anxiety and depression
  8. More orgasms!
  9. Higher self-esteem
  10. Increased sexual desire (libido)
  11. Greater satisfaction for you and your partner
  12. Orgasms = dopamine and oxytocin. These work to counteract the stress hormone called cortisol.
  13. Relief for menstrual cramps
  14. In perimenopause or menopause, it could help reduce dryness and decrease pain during intercourse.

If you don’t like that M word, if it makes you cringe, call it something else. You owe it to yourself to investigate. And visit that place.

  • Tend the garden
  • Have some LLJ time
  • Boost your mood
  • Butter your muffin
  • Tiptoe through the tulips

You get the idea, this should be FUN!

If you haven’t lately or haven’t ever, you are missing out. If you were ever made to feel ashamed or guilty, its time to banish those thoughts now. This is perfectly normal and perfectly wonderful.

Perhaps you don’t know where to begin?

Start with indulging your fantasies. Spicy romance books can help! Write to me and I’ll provide recommendations. 😉 Maybe its a tattooed bad guy, or a hunky handyman, a man cooking you dinner in just an apron, or a dashing dominant Scotsman demanding your compliance. It is no coincidence that DELICIOUS SURRENDER will have the Scotsman, the handyman and a tattooed bad guy!  No, not all at once, this isn’t a reverse harem romance!

The bottom line is it’s different for everyone and very personal. Just know that we all fantasize. And when something stirs you, don’t ignore it. Find your happy place and live life juicy.
