Trusting in the Universe & Knowing When to Change Course

I recently had to make a tough decision about the launch of my novel. My heart was set on December 10th, 2024, so DELICIOUS SURRENDER would be available in time for the holidays. I was, to put it mildly, hell-bent on publishing this year and I told tons of people when to expect it!

One phone call changed that. Except it wasn’t this one call that changed my mind. It was a series of things – so that when I listened to the wise person who recommended postponing, I already had an inkling that it was a good decision. I was free to ignore this advice and forge ahead, but the info came at the EXACT right time for me to put the brakes on.

I believe we receive guidance from the Universe all the time – if we are open to hearing it. My husband chuckles when I say I was “guided” to do, or not to do something. He likes to call it voodoo. But he cannot deny that my spiritual guides have a way of showing up for me – and protecting me.

In the days leading up to that call, I was frustrated and stressed out trying to sort through categories, keywords, and looming deadlines for Amazon, Ingram Spark, and Goodreads. Technology was vexing me at every turn.

Then came the suggestion to postpone. Plenty of valid reasons were cited – not the least of which is my lack of online presence, followers and fans. Is this a subtle cry for help? YES! Anyway, enough about that. I made the decision, and a huge weight immediately lifted off me. It felt RIGHT.

What I’m trying to say is – sometimes we receive little signs, warning bells, or detours when something is not the highest and best choice for us. For example, you want that new job – but you have a call with the hiring manager, and it doesn’t go well. You really love that gorgeous house in your chosen neighborhood, you bid and bid again and still lose it. Instead of being frustrated at being thwarted, look at it with a new perspective. For some reason, that job was not meant to be. It hasn’t been revealed but trust there is something better on the horizon. That house could have a sinkhole, hidden termites, or bad neighbors – trust you were protected from a bad situation – or it was because an even better home was coming for sale the next week.

We can choose to TRUST that we are being protected from an unfavorable situation, versus being punished for something we did. I choose to say it is happening FOR me – not TO me.

We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we perceive it and move forward from it.

My message to myself and to anyone open to guidance, is this:

• Trust in the Universe
• Manifest your dreams
  • Step 1: Faith
  • Step 2: Intention
  • Step 3: Conviction
• When one door closes, another opens – so keep your eyes and heart open
• Do not give energy to – or talk about the negative in your life
• Sometimes people move on or away from you – let them go. You may be making space for another person or opportunity
