Becoming unemployed threw me for a loop. Not in a bad way, but in a disruptive, “OMG I don’t have to work, I can read dark romance and go out for lunch or to the pool and no one will care” kind of way. However, the fear of managing without a steady income and being truly self-employed, takes some getting used to.
This new book is taking more time than I expected. I’m delving into richer characters with darker backstories, and a far more emotional journey than I originally planned. It’s true that writing a book can be an unexpected adventure, even when the trip is carefully planned in advance!

How long have you been waiting?

But here’s the truth. Many of us are still carrying beliefs that don’t belong to us. Stories we inherited. Fears we absorbed. Rules that were written by people who don’t really know who we are.

Outdated Beliefs Are Not Life Sentences
Maybe you were taught to play small. Be nice. Be quiet. Be good. Maybe you believe success looks a certain way. That your desires are too much. That you’re too much. And that if you put yourself first, you’re selfish.
Let’s call that what it is: outdated programming.
It might have served someone else’s ideals—but it is not your truth.

Fear may still sit in the car with you, but it doesn’t have to dictate the journey. Every time you make a choice that’s aligned with your truest self, despite the doubts, you reclaim your life.
What Does “Juicy” Mean to You?
“Juicy” doesn’t mean busy or glamorous. It means rich. Full. Nourishing. Sensual in the deepest sense. Being attuned to your senses, your joy, and your vitality.
Start small. Ask yourself:
- What would feel delicious today?
- What am I craving—not just in food, but in experience?
- What am I done tolerating?
- Where have I been quiet when I wanted to roar?
Give Yourself Permission
To be bold. To change your mind. To evolve.
To want more. To desire pleasure. To ask for what you need.

First things first.
I cannot thank you all enough for supporting my author dreams!! It has been a little over four months since the launch of my debut novel DELICIOUS SURRENDER. Things are really cooking and I am humbled and thrilled to receive your positive feedback. Wow!!

I have finally dived head first into writing the next book in the series: Delicious Deception. Writer’s block is a B*TCH, but I have buried her.
Been swimming in the deep end of PR by doing some cool podcasts and interviews including a cover story in the April Issue of The Relatable Voice. Yup, I took the mask off and went for it. Links are on my website.

Trusting in the Universe & Knowing When to Change Course
I recently had to make a tough decision about the launch of my novel. My heart was set on December 10th, 2024, so DELICIOUS SURRENDER would be available in time for the holidays. I was, to put it mildly, hell-bent on publishing this year and I told tons of people when to expect it!
One phone call changed that. Except it wasn’t this one call that changed my mind. It was a series of things – so that when I listened to the wise person who recommended postponing, I already had an inkling that it was a good decision. I was free to ignore this advice and forge ahead, but the info came at the EXACT right time for me to put the brakes on.
I believe we receive guidance from the Universe all the time – if we are open to hearing it. My husband chuckles when I say I was “guided” to do, or not to do something. He likes to call it voodoo. But he cannot deny that my spiritual guides have a way of showing up for me – and protecting me.
In the days leading up to that call, I was frustrated and stressed out trying to sort through categories, keywords, and looming deadlines for Amazon, Ingram Spark, and Goodreads. Technology was vexing me at every turn.
Then came the suggestion to postpone. Plenty of valid reasons were cited – not the least of which is my lack of online presence, followers and fans. Is this a subtle cry for help? YES! Please ask your friends to sign up for the blog or follow me on Instagram. My juicy book is now releasing February 11, 2025 – in time for Valentine’s Day!
Anyway, enough about that. I made the decision, and a huge weight immediately lifted off me. It felt RIGHT.
What I’m trying to say is – sometimes we receive little signs, warning bells, or detours when something is not the highest and best choice for us. For example, you want that new job – but you have a call with the hiring manager, and it doesn’t go well. You really love that gorgeous house in your chosen neighborhood, you bid and bid again and still lose it. Instead of being frustrated at being thwarted, look at it with a new perspective. For some reason, that job was not meant to be. It hasn’t been revealed but trust there is something better on the horizon. That house could have a sinkhole, hidden termites, or bad neighbors – trust you were protected from a bad situation – or it was because an even better home was coming for sale the next week.
We can choose to TRUST that we are being protected from an unfavorable situation, versus being punished for something we did. I choose to say it is happening FOR me – not TO me.
We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we perceive it and move forward from it.
My message to myself and to anyone open to guidance, is this:
- Trust in the Universe
- Manifest your dreams
- Step 1: Faith
- Step 2: Intention
- Step 3: Conviction
- When one door closes, another opens – so keep your eyes and heart open
- Do not give energy to – or talk about the negative in your life
- Sometimes people move on or away from you – let them go. You may be making space for another person or opportunity

Where is Luce?! She’s working hard to launch her debut novel, DELICIOUS SURRENDER!
There is a good reason you haven’t heard from me in the last month. This self publishing pursuit has given me plenty of challenges to navigate – and I think it would be cool to share a bit of the adventure with you.
So you’ve heard me say I will launch in December, in time for Christmas and Chanukah! But, what will it take to get there…
- Developmental Editing Done by Kristen Corrects✅
- Review edits, tweak and return for round 2 and 3✅
- Register my LLC – Live Life Juicy Books✅
That stuff was pretty straightforward and I bumped along and got it done. When I created my to do list back in June, I thought I’d captured all the pieces of this giant puzzle. Not even close! How can you know what you don’t know?
Talk to experts, that’s how! Start with friends with countless fabulous contacts : Kimberley Clarke! Amazing authors who have been down this road : Allison Graham & Beth Gelman! Indie Publishers who have done this loads of times : Jeanne Martinson, my book coach!
Did you know that the person who designs the inside of the book is different from the outside of the book? Yup. Internal matter needs a skilled formatter : Christine Lee! Front cover, back cover, Kindle cover all get designed by a professional Cover Designer : Kari March!
What if you want something truly original? What if you have scoured the royalty free photo sites and the best pictures are already on lots of other books in your genre?
Then you think outside the box and open a conversation with a gorgeous, professional model. “So, what do you think about being on the cover of a juicy erotic romance?” I don’t want to say too much right now and jinx things. I promise to let you know if this wild idea comes to fruition.
More tasks showed up on the list:
- Hire experts to navigate Social Media!✅ Hurray for Sweet Honey Marketing!
- Source a Contract for Image Rights ✅ Thanks Google and Creators Legal!
- Buy a DocuSign license and fiddle with it for half a day✅
- Purchase a Package of ISBNs ✅
Did you know that each and every format of a book needs its own ISBN (the 13-digit International Standard Book Number)? You do now. Digital, paperback, hard cover, audio, special editions etc.
I almost forgot to mention the critical vendors that will get the book into a buyers hands!!
- Open account at Kindle Direct Publishing✅
- Sign up at Ingram Spark so it’s stocked at Barnes & Noble, Target & more ✅
As I sipped my coffee this morning, I contemplated all the things that never occurred to me when I started jotting down the story of a feisty gal with juicy dreams and a hard-edged entrepreneur with trust issues. Things like cover color schemes, fonts, paper weight, chapter styles, binding…the blurb, the bio, the BLOG, oh my!
You know there’s more, but I don’t have time to lay on this couch and ruminate. I need to finish this blog and get on Instagram!
